HOW I GOT THE IDEA
A few years ago, I took a class on British Literature. During that semester we read parts of Paradise Lost, the epic poem by John Milton. His take on the old biblical stories really inspired me to write one of my own. At the same time, I took a class that I'd been wanting to take since high school, but had never had the opportunity: Greek Mythology. All of the stories really hit me, but none more so than the story of Echo and Narcissus. I really felt that Echo deserved more than the heartbreak she'd been granted in the myth. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. That, mixed with the inspiration that Paradise Lost left me with, created a whole new story. The Water Nymph is a modern combination of Greek and Biblical mythologies. And here is the synopsis! Enjoy!
THE WATER NYMPH
Cort Edson's world has been shattered. His older brother was killed in a tragic car accident that nearly took both of their lives. It's three years later and Cort is still numb from the loss. He doesn't have any friends at school, and every night he is forced to relive the accident over and over in his head. He's never been one to believe in Heaven or Hell, but after nearly being drowned by a fairy woman in Greece his whole world is once again turned upside down. Soon he is forced to come to grips with the fact that there really is a Heaven, and it's in danger of being taken over by Hell. Now he must fight to protect this world he's never believed in. Because if he doesn't he will lose everything he's ever cared for: His mother, his sister, and this new mythical woman who has just stolen his heart.

THE DAMNED GODDESS
Cort may have survived the fire, but he feels like a failure. He broke his promise. He allowed Seffie to slip through his fingers and descend back into the depths of Hell. Now he’s forced to witness her suffering in his nightmares, watching as Pandemonium grows stronger everyday. It seems as if all hope for Elysium is lost. And yet, somewhere in the world lies the Golden Apple, the only thing that can reverse the curse placed upon Seffie thousands of years ago. Cort must find the apple before Pandemonium rises at the end of December 21st, bringing about the second war in Heaven and, potentially, the end of the world as everyone knows it. With Echo as his only true ally, he sets out on his new quest. But, as his feelings for the beautiful water nymph begin to develop into something more than a crush, he starts to fear what will happen to her if he succeeds. Will Cort’s descent into Hell lead to the destruction of Pandemonium? Or the destruction of everything he loves? Cort Edson's story continues in THE DAMNED GODDESS.
